Located in the heart of Vigo, the Afundación Theatre opened in 1984 following the restoration of the historic García Barbón Theatre, originally designed by the renowned Galician architect Antonio Palacios in the early 20th century.
The building is a fine example of Academic Eclecticism, featuring the characteristic curves and flowing forms that define Palacios’ architectural style, inspired by the Palais Garnier opera house in Paris.
With more than 20 years of experience hosting cultural events, conferences and meetings, the venue welcomes an average of 300,000 visitors each year.
